Kai Holub (they/he) is a multidisciplinary artist whose work explores intimacy, gender, sexuality, and belonging through acrylic paintings, digital illustrations, and varied writings. His works reflect a wide range of references, from Western (consensual) portraiture to comics and pop culture. Working from either found or personal references of lovers and friends, Kai’s recent works centre unabashed faggotry; deviance that is still considered perverse. Fantastical body-modifications decorate their figures, poking fun at the idea of the “mystical” trans body, all while depicting his love for speculative fiction. Ultimately, Kai wants to depict queer existence in its multitudes; delicate, messy, genuine, and joyful.
